You saw the #'s with that 5 ft fibreglass ant and it shows as if its short, yet its a brand new never touched ant....So when i get home based on those #'s my 7ft should be to much...Ill try again when im home and post those #'s to..

Craig the physical lenght of the antenna 5ft versus 7ft doesn't mean the antenna will be to long. It is the lenght of the wire used in the antenna. Lenght of the antenna for radio purposes is measured by the lenght of the wire compared to wavelenght. 1/2, 1/4 and 5/8 wave antennas are the most common cb antennas you will see. On the flexing of the 7ft skip shooter in addition to the cpvc plastic pipe I also took rubber shrink tubing and built up the antenna at the ferrule and near where the tubing would stop so the antenna would fit tightly in the plastic tube. The antenna still flexes but not as much. It has lasted much longer than the 2 5.5ft Francis antennas combined.

rabbiporkchop and bored silly Thank this. -
I know its electrical not ohysical length but i thought there was more in the 7ft allowing for tuning..
The tubing i ised was very firm but not solid like say copper or that hard blk pvc pipe.. -
Ignore physical vs electrical length. You are overanalyzing things. Ignore field strength meter.
Dipole on a stick would work just fine whether held directly in my hand or mounted on a wooden broomstick elevated high on your truck. If it didn't work on your truck, you missed a critical detail or something was done incorrectly. -
Didnt get that far..I tried to tune a 7ft no luck..The 5 ft i planned on useing as the ground element shows it to short..So i had to go back to my 10 set up for now..
Stumped.... -
I would ignore the dip pole deal altogether its gotten you absolutely nowhere. unless you have rabbi or ridgeline or someone there to help you as Ridgeline stated before. your spinning your wheels not going forward or even backwards........Last edited by a moderator: Jan 15, 2017

Throw an uncut whip on there as a ground element on the bracket isolated from extension and it is guaranteed to work.
Something was done incorrectly. Ground element most likely grounded to truck. Must isolate otherwise it won't work.
Truck is irrelevant. -
For the luv of god rabbi....You told me to tune a ground 1st.....Thats what i tried with a 4ft and 2 5ft with mo luck..
I used a ss mount with marks stud and coax..Tried again with wilson mount and was just as bad if not worse..
So if i cant get past step one, dont have an effing clue....
Tuning the ground i was trying as if i was just going to use 1 ant..Tune with 37-50 ohms for my r # and 0 on my x # on 27185...bored silly Thanks this. -
Ok..i didnt know the ground ant was not to be connected to trk via the mount or its bolts..
Possible i didnt see it or remember..So many different inputs from all the sources..rabbiporkchop Thanks this. -
It does grounding makes a big difference on freightliner trucks extremely cheaply make trk. Most mass produced truck there is !!! You can quote that..........
