I've heard they can break at the stud if they are put on too tight.

I've been using the same one for 6 years so far, "knock on wood", seems to have less static than an aluminum one.

some of those "bird perches"are knock offs and are not exactly the correct size....Dont likem anyways..To much stress on one bolt hole...
I got a ss one from bobs that looks like the wilson 2 bolt style..Fine so far....Dont know how you guys tuned a 5 footer on it though,i couldnt..I went up to a 7ft and had to add to the tuning tip,i tossed the nail that skip shooter uses and ended up useing a 4" piece i cut off a whip from my 10k..

You have to get the mounts that use 2 of the bolts on your mirror if you don't want issues.

This was the best one. Unfortunately, the guy that made it passed away March 17'th. Made of stainless steel.

i really wish i could see this actually mounted on a truck. i thought i had an idea of what it was, when i did the search thru someone's link. however, i am as confused as all heck now as to how it's supposed to be actually mounted on the truck. anyone got actual pics of this on thier truck to show me?

    thanks in advance

    ohhhh....okkk

nope, never seen that before. i must also admit, at my job, we guys get "onsite" fueling so as a result, i hardly ever stop at any truck stops, where i'd see that set up.

so now, i suppose an antenna mount, goes onto the bird perch, and that get's tightened to the perch at that angle you got it? at least, this is what i think i see in the pic.

i just have my antenna mounted onto the grab bar behind my cab, as it is a day cab, and we have to at times switch out quickly for PM service or someone at the other terminal has to use one of our trucks for his route. then i get it back later. i never leave my stuff in my truck.

the bird perch i found by the link, just did not make any sense, then i saw the other one you posted.....really confused me! (i actually thought, you screwed that into the top of the mirror where some factory cb antennas are located,) really messed up my mind.

    thanks again!
