Update:. I ended up getting the perch mount like Rabbiporkchops pic except it was the Wilson.. I stopped at a shop gave a guy $5.00 he drilled 2 holes to match the bolts where the spot mirror goes on passenger side.I mounted it there put the antenna bracket on and I checked for ground with my ohm meter and it showed zero...but I did add a piece of 10 guage wire to bolt and to the antenna mount. with a 5 ft Francis I'm at 1.2 on 1 and 1.4 on 40 that's with an astatic meter.I went ahead put new coax on it also, except I used 18 ft astatic cause didn't have 9 ft. It seems like it also cut down a little on noise.. anyway a radio check by mile marker said to be 8 miles.if that's the case I'm happy..I wonder when I get home if I can cut the Francis 1/16 increment s and maybe get lower, or just leave well enough alone? Also 2 contacts from Tx to Al.

    I would leave it....The difference from a 1.0 to a 1.5 is a loss of 3 watts out of a 100...

That wire to the mirror bracket..I would dump it...If memory is correct its adding length to ant but forgetting that all it will do is help with static some..
There are a cpl fellas here with more smarts than me on the wire comment..They will comment to confirm or blow me away..

The guy in the petro on I 70 at the state line with ohio sells a custom "bird perch" Cascadia mount that is of much better quality and durability than the Wilson. Look at the weld marks on the Wilson and it screams automation. The aluminum that the Wilson is made of is cheap too. The custom made one is a much thicker aluminum and a regular mount adapted to it. Might be worth checking out. If you use a heavy antennae then the Wilson mount will not do. If your using a real lightweight one like the predator or a fiberglass one than the Wilson mount should do alright for you as long as you don't hit tree limbs or anything with the antennae.

Dont wanna be or need a 10k even though it mot heavy, unless your pushin big watts..
Even with a 10k the ss mount i have on my cascadia wobbled..So i went with top loaded fibreglass with better results..Not that there is anything wrong with the 10k but its not suited for a cascadia with auch a low mounting position..

Just left Clay's in San Antonio, they now have the heavy duty cascadia mirror mount..this sucker is made out of steel, with the antenna bracket already angled... one solid piece no weld....If I knew how to post a pic I would.

1.5:1 or under is plenty good. I'd leave it alone.

Difference between 1 and 1.5 on 100watts is only 3..So it doesnt really matter but on a stock 4 watts it will matter more..
