I just read an article about nvis antennas and it says they are horizontally polarized and that you can maximize the efficiency of it by laying a ground wire on the ground directly underneath the radiating element but that it must be parallel with the Earth.windsmith Thanks this.

Yep, you're right. I got 'vertical' out of the 'near vertical' radiation angle, and incorrectly assumed that it was also vertically polarized.rabbiporkchop Thanks this.
