    Here is my exact location where I was stationary during the entireconversation.

    Receiving station @
    TA @ exit 77

    Same parking spot on my end..Had to use amplifier to make the trip..
    80 mile one way conversation to Cobra 29 in a mobile.

    My Magnum S9 and all of Jasons radios have heavily modified receivers..Demonstrating receiver sensitivity and low noise in the receivers was the whole point of the videos.

    I just read an article about nvis antennas and it says they are horizontally polarized and that you can maximize the efficiency of it by laying a ground wire on the ground directly underneath the radiating element but that it must be parallel with the Earth.

    Yep, you're right. I got 'vertical' out of the 'near vertical' radiation angle, and incorrectly assumed that it was also vertically polarized.

    I got lucky once, and had a 20 minute conversation from Bakersfield California to a friend of mine in Imperial Beach California.
    (254 miles)
    He sounded like he was in the same parking lot though..
