only happens in certain parts of the good ole USA . your in one of them. average truck otr sees about 8 to10 miles talk and receive and that's it... and that depends on many many factors for that to even happen... sorry the truth will set you frèe. as they say.

This is part of the RF tuned ground I talk about but it isn't a counterpoise, because truthfully counterpoise is the wrong term to use.

I don't know what my range is I hear stuff well a head if people are talking. Like the other day I saw brake lights and enquired immediately got several responses but no body had bothered to pick up the mike prior to my asking . None of those responses were "if you had your radio on you would know" leading me to conclude people had their radios on but weren't bothering to keep opposing traffic informed. The furtherest I"ve talked mobile to mobile is about 6 miles with some one I trust to be accurate about 10 to a base station. I am not running the antenna system shown in that diagram. I do not run up and down the road asking for radio checks as I don't know the quality of unknown drivers antenna system nor the accuracy of their response. I once listened to 2 drivers keep asking for repeats on their way overmodulated radios. They went around in circles not understanding each other until one of them finally figured out the other driver was complimenting him on the great sounding radio, he then complimented the other driver on his great radio. Thought it was absolutely hilarious they both said the other had a great sounding radio but neither could understand the other.

honest answer------ I don't ask for radio checks either or ever.....once drivers hear my radio they usually ask me for a radio check and won't leave me alone. my radio is loud and proud it walks the dog and kicks the cat... but it's a expensive radio . not made anymore...

It happens from coast to coast- to varying degrees of course. Performance is best on wet flat ground like indiana or illinois of course..

Actually what started the Fiasco had nothing to do with my advice.
It had everything to do with Craig's inability to duplicate the installation the same as Blairandgretchen and achieve identical results. They had no problems making it work...

What should i expect to see,how will i know if it works...
As per the diagram it tunes around 6-7 feet....How do i tune a wire attached to the coax connection...
Dont see how i can route that wire away from my coax seeing im trying the dipole idea on the 40" tall cascadia door mount..
Speakin of the dipole,if i need to tune the ground antenna 1st i can do but if memory is right my 5.5 ft firestick was to short electrically..So it wouldnt tune fully, close but not like my 10k does..

Do you have any idea how much wire is in your five and a half foot fire stick?
