When those new 780 Volvos came out my dealer sales guy sold one to a trucking newbie (they sell Pete and Volvo)... three months later he was sick of the lifestyle and wanted out. He put the truck up for sale on the dealer's lot. His $116,000 loaded up Swedish Freightshaker brought $62,000 when it sold a few months later... a very expensive lesson.

I like the Cascadia interiors. Plenty of storage.

If I was in the market for a used truck, I would want the cheapest truck in good mechanical shape. I would base it more on the engine/tranny than the brand truck.

I have the deal done on the Cascadia just have to pull the trigger, price is crazy good, ext warr throw in etc, etc, Volvo guy calls back found me a 780 with a cummins (no volvo engines here) and he says it will be a low price hes waiting on his rep. so im waiting... have a friend with a 780, cummins, its real comfortable, quiet, smooth and the best cabin, storage space, (I love the business center/picnic table) So im waiting... gave him till the end of the day, if I dont hear from him its a Cascadia. Nothing but good things from several drivers locally here about the cascadia, DD15 is a great motor, the Volvo will have to be a great deal to make me change my mind..

dont consider the picnic table. unless you plan on living in your truck. are you going to spend more time in the bunk or behind the wheel making money? just a thought. be practical, not comfort minded

I just hope you're not going to be hauling $1.00 per mile freight with this truck... you will have a tough time making it with those high paymants...

These new trucks are all over priced and way too complex for the average guy ... let the fleets have 'em. I'll stick to my old '95... and if you DO buy a Volvo you haven't read a whole lot on this board.

Definetly not hauling $1.00 freight. Had a 2005 Freightliner classic, 6.3 mpg Imperial gallon, and average $1798 per month repairs/maintenance for the last yr, I sold it for $25k, Payments will be less than previous payment+repairs per month by $500, never mind the 1-1.5 mpg I'll put in my pocket. It will be much quieter and smoother than my Classic, seems like a win win. Classic was so loud I wore earplugs, tried quieter mufflers, put thicker foam on the floor, nothing worked, big old school truck. As far as the business station, it would be nice to have a place to eat instead of the divers seat, i try to do my own meals on the road, i found the classic fridge small, the 780 fridge is HUGE compared to it. They have one with D13 and ishift that is a 2011. They will deal significantly on it, i didnt want a D13, wanted him to fins one with a Cummins, but the deal is hard to pass up. Have a friend who drives for our company that has one and loves it, his is 2008, 500k on it now, no major troubles.??? I'm soo confused.......:biggrin_25524: lol... have to make a decision by Monday am,, so just askin'
    Thanks.

What do you pull and where do you travel , is there a good dealer network in the area you live / travel for either make.

My son had a 2005 CLASSIC as well and you are right about them being OLD SCHOOL.

Why is it everyone thinks that all people do is haul $1.00 mile freight.:biggrin_25526:
