Hi, I was told to stay away from international prostar, now I'm looking at a 2009 freight liner cascadia with dd15 engine and 600000 miles. Any thoughts??? Thanks...

i was at our local Freightliner shop this last week. I counted 11 cascadias. 9 where in the shop bays 2 outside the bays. the olny other trucks in the shop was one big crane truck and an rv. the only other trucks out side where medium duty trucks and more rv's. NOT one other class 8 truck at the Tucson fl dealer shop!

My opinion, stay away from the 2007-2009 regen engines. The 2010 engines are far from perfect, but have less problems and get better fuel mileage. You'd be better off in the long run spending more for a newer truck.

In that case a 2011 international with a cummis engine will do. Don't you think?
-
Yes i drive a 2010 pete with a cummins only problem i had was one egr valve and the egr cooler leaking plus cummins with outpull any newer motor.

Thanks a lot bro...👍

A western Star dealer told me that the DD15 in a 2009 and 2010 is a different motor then the 07, and was discontinued at the end of 2010.

Do you mean that from 2011 onward freightliner trucks have a new version of the dd15?
-
Not trying to hijack, but I'm looking at a 2011 cascadia with an isx cummins as well as a 2012 with a dd15

They made some design changes in 2011, same basic engine though. If I remember right, a different turbo, pistons, water pump, higher injection pressure and a few other things. Not a different motor, they just "improved" some things.
