I'm not gonna carry that kind of money around that's just asking for trouble, the card I use gives me the cash price and wouldn't want to do it any other way.

I always pay cash. never worry about that being unsafe. don't like using any card that charges a fee. never want my time at fuel stop to be used against me on my paperwork. even though I run dedicated & drive no more than 7 hours total per day, I never like the idea of a time stamp on my bills, fuel, or anything else that puts me at a certain location at a specific time. our co says we can use our card, but the time on our fuel stops using our cards must match our log's. a lot of folks come to like convenience way too much, that they will give up some freedom. electronic transactions are like tracking devices, co's want to know your habits, on spending, e.t.c. CASH is KING for me. always.

Take a look on your receipt, it will have a "receipt number." You can call the truck stop and give them this number and they know what time you were there. Paying with a card at the big stops only puts the day, not the time, that the fuel was purchased, but when the company gets the end of week report it will have all the info on it. If you are only driving 7 hours per day you probably only need to fill every 3 or 4 days or something. Would it be too difficult to tell the truth for just one of those moments?

Wether you pay cash or use ANY type of card the DOT or any lawyer can call that fuel stop with the information on the receipt and see exactly what time the transaction took place. The only way to get around that is to pay cash and get a hand written receipt with no transaction numbers on it.
