I always find it amazing that a casino can devise a system to place them in an advantageous position over the gambler, but if the gambler devises a system to even the playing field, they get banned.
Gambling as entertainment is ok i guess, but to depend on winning for making a living is not for the light at heart.

I've lost $800 at a casino.
While deployed my ship anchored in the bay in koper Slovenia. The mwr sponsored casino tours. For $300 you got an extremely nice hotel room for 2 nights, plus breakfast, lunch, and dinner plus shows.
You could go play the slots, poker, blackjack, craps, whatever you wanted. Course you had to foot the bill to gamble. I started at $200, playing blackjack. Was up about $500, then my ego got the best of me and I went to try my luck at the $50 poker tables. Ended my night down $800. Needless to say, I dreaded making that phonecall to my wife on that Friday. She was not thrilled. She also banded me from going to anymore casinos to gamble. Now I just occasionally but lottery ticketstucker and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
I buy a powerball ticket when I get gas for the car when I remember. When I hit the powerball, the J in Phoenix will be destroyed.Midnightrider909, passingthru69 and Gunner75 Thank this.

Even money go home, Double or more winnings versus what you started is a good day. Sometimes the house wins. You can either burn through your gaming money or see it win.
You never use the seed money that goes to your rent, food and family for this kind of past time.
When drivers talk of big wins, it's likely a rare occurance and overall it's either break even or a income to the casino. The House wins often. I like the tables at Sky City myself rather than machines. But generally double and leave. Usually break even. Sometimes that gaming money goes bye bye with no winnings. That's ok. -
iv never run across anyone that claimed they won at least 800 dollars every time they went to a casino and if i did i would call bs.
iv have come close to being up that much, ill put 20 bucks down on a black jack table once every few years, used to do it a bit more often but your either going to hit a lick or not. so i never play with more than 60 bucks. the longer you play the better the odds are that the house will win. the best i ever did i sat down with 20 bucks i was up about 750 gave 200 back before i got up and walked away. -
I believe in a TA or a old 76 in a place called spartansburg decades ago, in the days of machine draw poker that infested the Carolinas for a number of years, a form of crack cocaine if you ask me. You win and lose so much so fast if you don't watch it. I once had the machine 4 cards and one draw away from a Royal which would have paid 5000 dollars cash at the fuel desk in a brown bag one day. There was silence in that part of the room as I contemplated the constantly rolling random number chip inside the machine that does nothing but "Spin:" the next card until you hit the draw button.
tucker Thanks this. -
That's why I prefer the "bingo" machines you can typically find in Indian casinos. Yes, it's random but there is a logic to the randomness that explains what the payout will be if you hit a certain pattern in the first so many "balls" (current number call)

I think the 800.00 win goes something like this, take 400.00 in to Casino, lose it, take another 400.00 out of the atm, when you are just about broke you start coming back and wind up flush so they figure they are now "ahead" 800.00!!!! New Math, lol
