ok thanks alot i will check rack travel and see if it does anything, yes tgat is a nice set up for fuel gage, i seen that plug in mine but didn't remove assuming it was a special thread that i wouldn't have anything to screw into it

i pulled that cover, turn key on and it moved a bit, i helped it tge rest of the way back and it fired up as it alkways did befor , half a revolution or touch more, it ideled a liitle higher than normal 800 for about 2 minutes now setted down to 600, is the problem that rack is sticking?

I don't know enough to be of any further help. I'm not sure about the high idle either, probably related.

I would pull the pump and take it to a fuel shop...unless you know a good CAT pump man.

thanks wore out, that is exactly what i did, there is a place that rebuilds em , bench tests etc about an hr away from me,the truck is there now, he also will check snd or clean n rebuild timing advance unit aswell,cost will be 3,600 canadien dollers on the high side and 2,600 on the low side i was quoted, all depending on if it need 6 new plungers or not, at this point i reslly dont care i just want it repaired right! thanks for all ur help
