ok... im going to the kenworth shop tomorrow, they r doing a tune to the ecm to see if they can turn it up from 475 to 550... and c if that makes a difference, so i can ask for the boost sensor..... hopefully its not that expensive!
i dont know if you said it but check fuel pressure and for a cac leak also. not just the boots but pressurize the cac and see if it holds pressure.
what about the turbo???? mine doesnt have a wastegate... do u guys think that maybe that is a smaller turbo?
You have a 99 truck so I would start by replacing all the fuel lines. The sensor is in the cylinder head above the air compressor. When you're loosing power when you hit top gear it is often a fuel supply issue as top gear demands the most fuel from your fuel system.
i had a similar problem...my boost only went up to 5 ..and it was couse i got hit by lightning and it fried the ECM ...but the turbo sensor was not showing any sing of damage...i replace it and the problem got fix...they go for about $100.00 dollars...
so let me say an example... im runnin on flat surface going 65mph at 1400 rpm, turbo at 15 psi..., if i c a hill comin i floor it... so i start going faster, lets say by the time i start climbing im going 70mph at 1500 rpm turbo 22 psi, not even half the little hill rpm start droppin and so is turbo boost, and im talking a little hill where nobody else loses a single mph climbing.... so according to some coworkers the boost suppose to go higher when climbing and not decreasing!!!!..... turbo problems or fuel problems>> any experience with this?
Fuel creates cylinder pressure which in turn creates exhaust pressure which powers the turbo to create boost for the air intake of the cylinder. When fuel is even slightly decreased all these things follow suit and also decrease causing low power. Don't be too quick to condemn the turbo before checking everything that makes it sing.
