Thanks everyone for the information...I found the problem on the harness. There is a portion that runs along side the block and was rubbin on a bolt. It ate thru the insulation and melted a few wires. Had a #1, #2, and #5 injectors runnin high current. I'm more than sure this is it.

Having this same problem and at a lose. Replaced the injector harnesses. The co.llete engine harness and last the ecm. Checked the grounds still can find the cause.

Code 72 can be injector 1 or 2. If you have done both harnesses it could be an injector internally shorted/open. If you put it on a laptop it will give a better code number and identify which injector.

Oxbow, spsauerland and SAR Thank this.

The metal plate with the nuts on top of the injector that holds the wiring on can bend causing the metal to touch. Does the truck have a misfire when its running?

    SAR Thanks this.

No went days last with no issue then would misfire for a period of time before coming back out of it. Its not consistent. Which would make me think bad connection or old wires but all the harnesses have been done, ecm, injectors. Has me baffled

I have had brand new harness have internal breaks and new harnesses routed incorrectly that rubbed out in a short period of time.
Get it hooked to a laptop to find out what injector/code it is. Disconnect it at the ecm, break out an ohm meter and shake the harness end to end. Worst case load the wires with a headlight to track down the bad wire.
An alternator sending out a dirty signal can cause injector issues but usually all 6.
