I have a C15 MBN 03 and my camshaft is flaking due to one bad rocker. My local cat dealer is charging quite a bit to change the camshaft all 18 rockers and I told them, might as well change cam bearings and main bearings. My question is, I rebuilt my truck with a platinum rebuild 4 years ago, now 600,000 miles on it, should I just do a rebuild again since they're charging me $14,000 for the camshaft, all bearings, 18 rockers new oil pump with labor? Or how many miles can I get out of it? I burn a gallon of oil every 10,000 miles. No consumption of coolant. And little blow by.

Cam and rockers are not part of a Platinum OH kit.

I say change the Cam and rockers and get some more life out of it.

    Just what I would do…..

Unless the head has to come off I wouldn't bother touching the bottom end or putting cylinder kits in it. I'd just do the cam, rockers and cam bearings if needed.
