I purchased a 2001 Freightliner classic about a month ago. The truck was pretty much rebuilt completely within the past 3 years. Overhaul was done 3 years ago about 40,000 miles ago. I have detailed services and invoices from previous owner which is a great help.

I started using the truck and at night I noticed a check engine light blink. The truck runs perfect with zero problems, Now I don’t know how long this code has been active since I can barely see it on during the day. I plugged in and got fmi 11 “root cause unknown” SID 22 “timing sensor” I hired a mechanic to read the code further and he got the same exact reading, but with it saying low voltage to timing sensor. Both cam and crank sensors and harnesses were replaced in 2022. The ECM was replaced in 2021. Mechanic checked sensor and verified it is new and “looks good”. When he unplugged the sensor the code went away, but came back after driving the next day. I found a service record from cat stating similar issue in 2022. They ran the same diagnostics and replaced the crank sensor and that was all.

what could be my issue here? As mentioned the truck runs fine with zero issues and zero crank issues. Could it be the hot tune on it? Possibly a bad sensor again? ECM going bad?

The ECM is telling you that it's not getting enough voltage for the sensor. You have a damaged power wire or a faulty ground somewhere.

Would it be a damaged power wire or ground wire somewhere along the harness for the crank sensor?

I can't say without looking at the wiring diagram honestly but if it's in the same loom or on the same circuit then it's certainly possible.

What you have been told is a bit deceiving, the generic code doesn't quite point you in the right direction, Would need to read codes with CAT ET to get a accurate description.

Code 22-11 is for cam to crank timing is out more than 3 degrees. to check it and see what needs done to correct it the peanut cover needs to be removed and crank pin timed to see where the cam gear timing mark is at, could just be off 1 tooth, or cam adjustable idler gear not set right.
