Hispeed428, PDI just did my motor (MXS, single turbo conversion) & they left the stock head on, they just backed the IVAs all the way off. I think you should talk to them if your wanting reliable HIGH HORSEPOWER. When I was there they had a converted MXS putting 1200 hp to the ground (show truck).
I think as the IVAs open to recirculate the exhaust it lowers the comp., which is why cat went to 18:1
Cat diesel power!!!!

Just back the screws out 3 turns each to see how you like it. You can go more, alot more but don't get to carried away just yet! These guys here are talking about electronic engines and none if it will help us mechanical guys any.

Did U install a 6NZ ECM?If the IVA's lower dynamic compression than as long as I'm using the Power Box I would be shooting myself in the foot if I disabled them. The problem you run into with stock timing and a high static compression ratio, whether its 18:1 or 17:1,is detonation which I believe breaks things.I have to really ease into the pedal at lower rpm's with my current setup.
-
yeah i know about the two different types, but i wasn't as informed as i am from listening to these guys. who would've known there was so much to learn about diesel engines
-
Highspeed428, Yes they replaced the ECM, wiring harness (internal & external), timing gears, relocated timing sensor, exhaust manifold & turbo.
-
TimberTaxi what did it cost you?
-
fte05, I had them do do a few other things including FASS, so my bill was alittle on the steep side. Just give Shawn a call # PDI, he will give you the skinny on the package your looking for.
-
With all the changes you have done is the compression still at 18:1????
Also what boost is it making now????
Thanks. -
830hp C16, Yes it's still 18:1 & the boost is around 38 to 41. I just went stage 1 on the build (650 to the ground) so I could keep my bottom end (very responsive) for idling around in the woods.

The only problem is, HP cost big money with these electronic engines.
You start figuring up what these guys are paying for this and you'll love that B model so much more!
