Cat ecm passwords

They may charge same money just to recover or reset customer password. I drove for a company that was willing to change a truck top speed from 60mph to 65. Went to Cummings dealer here in Spokane WA and they asked if I know the password(s). I sure didn't. Then they were going to charge my company something around $500 to get or reset the password. Sure enough company refused to pay that money and the truck remained governed at 60mph.

 

Cat in Denver reset my password and changed it so the fan would stop coming on everytime the jake came on for free. It literally took him less than 5 minutes. I bought the truck at Rush and they wanted to charge me an hours labor to reset it even though the password was changed by the previous owner. I kind of felt like that should have been part of them selling me the truck but thats how they do things there. If it were me I would stop at the local Cat dealer and ask.

 

I spend 129 us for open my limiter now the truck runns more then 85. A freightliner dealer to this job.I have a catengine c 13

 

Not every parameter is protected by passwords, that is one of the things you want on the list of things you want to have have as part of the deal before you buy it. Pass-words, a full ECM print out, a repair, and service history, and a copy of the used truck report. Just a thought!

i had purformance diesel in mt vernon change mine at no cost. but i buy parts from him on a regular basis.

 

Usually when a mechanic puts passwords in without the customer specifying them they will use 0 or 0000 for each password. These are zeros
