to clarify the #280-2698 filter head is what we want? is this the primary or the f/w separator?
-
What about the flow of my stock cartridge-style primary filter? Would a FASS system provide enough flow so you wouldn't need that CAT fuel pump?
-
What is primary filter part # ? you can flow alot of fuel picking the right filter and high flow base ( 120 gph ) IMO, the Fass isnt needed if you check operation of fuel system regularly. the Fass looks like a hero if its installed in a system thats already sucking air.
FYI. there are multiple part #s for updated primary filter head ( 120 gph )
depends on fitting size and style ( NPT, JIC etc ) -
The part # I come up with is 9M2342... it's the old style metal cartridge filter that goes inside a canister. Takes a Wix# 33820 cartridge.
I would THINK it can flow pretty good... -
IF your refering to the pump on the motor, no. The FASS only makes 30 psi.
-
I disagree. I have the FASS powered through a switch on the dash. Sometimes I will turn it off accidently it does not take long and I can tell a differance. The engine feels lazy and not as smooth. Not a big differance but I can tell it. I cant say that it helped milage any as I done other changes when I insalled mine. I bought it mostly to help with fuel gelling which I never had a problem since I've installed it. IMO its worth it.
-
I'm not sure of the value of the FASS or the original fuel Preporators (now called Air Dogs)... on a mechanical engine I can see a benefit but I don't know about an electronic engine... especially with Cat and IHC-style unit injectors.
-
you might be right . call Wix for the specs if you really want to know what you ve got.

I had one of the old fuel preps on another truck and for me it was more trouble than it was worth. Fass type systems are expensive for very little if any gain but this is just MY opinion. Im glad it works for you.
