This is a great CAT discussion ... I can learn more from you guys than at the KW dealer. I have a Cat ('05 T600) with twin turbos and I've read where this could be trouble down the road (485000 miles so far). On my next truck, if it has a Cat in it, which ones should I avoid ?? It will be a 2003 to 2005 most likely. It may be a Cummins and I guess thats a bad word in this thread but thats another issue. I did have a freind that works at IH and he said the Cummins was easier to work on (thus cheaper ??). Also, I'm considering a truck with high mileage knowing I will need to do some work and I understand Cummins are cheaper to rebuild ??

I work for Equity Transportation in Grand Rapids and they run late model Freightliners and utilize the Jetstar Hydrogen Fuel System and they claim to get an addition 2-3 miles more per gallon!

I also hear that the engines run better, burn cleaner and save the company thousands of dollars in fuel savings?

The owner also has a seperate business now installing the Jetstar Hydrogen Fuel Systems on other trucks and fleets, including a recent order from Pepsi Bottling Group for 80 such units after the original order of just 40 units. This is due to the results of their own testing after the initial order. (Google Jetstar and Pepsi)

The company that my company runs for installing the Jetstar system is Hydrogen Leasing. Google either "hydrogen leasing" or "hydrogenfs"

All reports can be verified by independant sources. You may also Contact Alan Bishop at either website and ask he addition fuel saving measures that we have in place.

Haha, nice ad for snake oil. If anyone buys this I'm selling hangover pee as a fuel additive. Will make your truck run smoother and increase mileage .001mpg all the way to 50mpg whichever you want to believe.:biggrin_2559:

Cat will NOT reflash your ecm but there are several places that will just shop around. P.P. and P.D.I. will sell you a ecm for around 1800 give or take a few$. Their manifold is a ported, polished and ceramic coated, helps mpg's and power.Make absolutly sure the equipment you have now is working correctly, get the entire intake system checked for leaks, not just a visual inspection, it needs to be pressure tested. And the most important check is the fuel system, start at the line coming out of the tank and follow it all the way to the motor. ANY moisture at all and I do mean any at all indicates a leak, just because its just damp means there isn't much fuel getting out, but I promise you your getting a bunch of air in, and catapillers hate air in their fuel.

What cam should i use to upgrade the 6 nz 475 engine while using a 550 flash but stock everything else. I need to replace the cam and might as well install an upgrade to get more power

Frency, your 2000 Freightliner Century with a C 15 engine (straight) not a C-15 acert engine. Your has only a single turbo, not a twin turbo setup. What work on your engine, will not work on a C-15 acert engine.

You are being mislead, CAT is a high rpm motor power band is 1400 - 1800 not 1100 - 1400 . running cali at 55 why did you uprate , you should have stayed at the horsepower you were , you don't need it with 12k loads, what gears and trans do you have to run that low rpm ?

I drive a t600 fully dressed with the mbn cat @525 and a 13sp backed by 3.55 gears. i run 55 in 11th gear arround 1400 give or take
