I had a CAT with 475hp, one day it was getting serviced, they changed the programming and it pulled like no tomorrow.

Detriot diesels are like Harleys they dont leak oil they just mark their spot lol is like anything in life you will get some lemons in any brand you buy i just happen to like Cat engines because i have not had any major problems with them it does not mean you will never see one that is just a money pit i would recommend Cat any day

Had any issues with your new one yet? I am assuming not based on the comment, but have to ask out of curiosity.

I will throw my hat in the ring for CAT. Not just for the engine but the service as well. I have had a few problems on the road lately and all three cat dealers I saw , one in Regina Canada , one in Williston ND and one in Idaho Falls ID all got me in the shop and back on the road ASAP . I'm Williston they were swamped but still put me straight in and got me going . In idaho falls they just charged me for the part and didn't charge to plug in or for the labour. Just put a new connector on a solenoid and cost me 35 bucks. I know it's one hour labour to hook up the computer alone so they were real good to me. A good engine is one thing but good backup service means a lot as well.
