    I was reading PEEC manual and I think it's worth a try. You should fool those rack and timing sensors with some resistor, that's what those VW guys are doing, they alter the return signal to ECM so that it thinks that rack is less than it actually is. Problem is that it makes idling problems, it must be switched off or do a little more advanced with diodes or something so that it is only working when rack is over certain point.

    Of course it can't make more power than mechanical if pump is the same, just a cheap option to mechanical conversion.
