Alright, replaced the thermostats. The old ones must of been originals, by the time we got them both out of the housing, we had kinda tore the one up. Drove to DSM yesterday grossed at about 80k and it went right up to 185-200 and I could see the thermostat(s) cycling. Was sure a wonderful thing to see an engine able to warm up and to have heat!

Also, one thing that I hate during the summer is that when going slower on the gravel roads pulling hills and stuff at like 20-25 mph loaded to the gills then it really sucks that the truck will get right up to 220-225 really quickly and then the fan comes on finally. It wouldnt be so scary if 220 was the middle of the gauge, but when it's like the 3/4 mark on the gauge, that's a bit freaky. I'm sure others agree.

Cat Part number CAT1209453 is 170 degree F
Cat Part Number CAT6I4950 is 180 degree F

Both of these numbers may cross to a newer number, my notes are about 4 years old.

I was on Hwy 8 headed E outta San Diego. I started a long pull up a mountain and my water temp got close to 250 deg, the dash was lighting up with warnings, check eng. lights so I had to pull over half way up. It was like 50 deg. outside!!! So I should probably get a lower temp thermostat right? Or is something wrong???
