Well, today i found the nut loose on the bottom of the compressor that mounts it to the plate/engine. So that explains where the oil was leaking from. Still going to go ahead and change it out tho as it has 882k miles on it now.
Quick question, after I drain the coolant, and unhook all the hoses, and undo the 3 bolts, how do I pull the compressor out? Is there a trick? Also, is it ran off a gear, a cog or what?

gear, if your new one doesn't come with a gear you will have to reuse the gear off the old comp. use an impact wrench. it will pull right off by hand with maybe a little coaxing with a mallet.

Close that shutoff valve and keep it that way you don't want that warm fuel going back in there. I was told it was an MBN only "feature" but apparently I guess some of the ACERT's must have them too.

Thanks for the info. i did not get to pull it out today because i got a really good local run lined up tomorrow in the AM, so I'll mess with it after that.

Well, after finally getting around to doing some further investigations, I think my air compressor is not bad. I pulled the discharge hose off and there was a slight hint of water and just a faint trace of some oil, Nothing major. Is this normal??
I also changed the air dryer filter and found out that the ORIGINAL air filter was on it. This truck has over 880k miles. So that is most likely where the water/oil was coming from that I found going to the fan clutch. I'm going to change the fan clutch and see how things go.
Thanks for all the info and help about this to all who replied. At least if it winds up being bad, I got the know how to change it out now. -
Cats test is to pull supply line off compressor. Then hold a white piece of paper over connection and run compressor . A few spots of oil is normal....... If paper is dripping with oil and looks like an oil slick....you have your answer..
I change my air dryer filter every 6 months, but I'm not right in the head..... LOLSHC Thanks this. -
Yes, I'm almost positive it was the filter that was the problem. When I pulled it, it still had the red paint from when the frame on my truck was painted. It had water and some oil (looked like grey sludge) in it. So we shall see how things go.
