Small world. He and my dad were friends. I finally got to meet him at a HEUI class in the late 90's.
Probably called him 100 times after that getting information. He was my go to back then for oddball CAT problems.Rideandrepair, Feedman, Oxbow and 2 others Thank this. -
Guy just text me this picture, at first I thought it was another W9 I’ve seen but it isn’t….

Owner said the truck originally had a Detroit. The Cat replacement engine is from a 1996 International dumptruck with 500,000 miles according to the owner….

That surprises me that a truck like that came out with 375 hp in 94.OLDSKOOLERnWV and Rideandrepair Thank this.

I looked it up and that engine was built on 9/16/96.
I wonder if it was rebuilt with higher horsepower tune? I don't know what difference in hard parts are required to go to 475 or 550. I'll bet @wore out knows.
It would be interesting to get it on Cat ET and see if it is currently rated higher. If it needed only a different turbo and a rerate to get to 550 it probably wouldn't cost maybe $5k?
I'm talking way over my pay grade here, but I have a hard time believing it is still set at 375.OLDSKOOLERnWV, Rideandrepair and Big Road Skateboard Thank this. -
Dang, I was typing when you posted this. Makes sense now.OLDSKOOLERnWV and Rideandrepair Thank this.

Well, don't look terrible. How long ago was the engine swap? Got a new flywheel housing. Makes me question if it came out of a wreck. Looks like original CAC and radiator. Like the custom rad support rod on the right side
Oxbow, OLDSKOOLERnWV and Rideandrepair Thank this.
