Emission decal is accessed through Cat Technical Marketing Information website. They are now requiring ECM download to get a sticker.

Oxbow, snowman_w900 and SAR Thank this.

2WS will all be 1998 or 1999 EPA engines.

Well that's good to know. @spsauerland @Oxbow or anyone else , you got any leads or advice on how to go about getting the decals? I've never done it before.

    SAR and Oxbow Thank this.

Yeah, I knew the year range of the 2ws, my issue is I'm gonna be ELD exempt on my truck and running paper logs. I'd like to have the decals on my engine so a DOT won't hassle me. Truck is titled as a 2000 model, but it has a factory 2ws in it.

I have a feeling at some point I might some explaining to do if the right dot man wants to give me a hard time over it.

    SAR Thanks this.

My only experience with this is when I bought a truck out of Canada. The dealer that I bought it from contacted Cat and acquired the sticker. The salesman told me that he could not sell the truck and ship it across the border without that sticker. I purchased the truck contingent upon taking delivery in the states.
You will obviously have to go through Cat, but with an engine that is not in the truck I wonder if it can be obtained based upon VIN.
Maybe @pushbroom can help with the dealer side of things.

I got one through my local Pete dealer about 4 months ago. Gave parts man ESN and free of charge had new sticker in three days. Went to get another one about a month ago and Cat wanted an ECM download in order to verify ESN. Not a fan of Cat connecting to ECM, so just printed performance spec with build date and put in trucks binder. You just have to be able to prove it is Pre 2000 motor, doesn't state how.

Like spsauerland said replacement labels require a PDF ecm download to be attached to verify the serial number and current flash file.

Basically they don't wanna give you an EPA sticker for your 2WS that might possibly have a 7CZ flash in it...

SAR, Oxbow and snowman_w900 Thank this.
