Very true. I understand getting from east to west being in the trailer for a long time. And I'm sure on a load like that they can lose a good bit of weight before they start docking the drivers pay. And like I said don't know much about hauling cattle but if there was something wrong with them before hand why the hell did the rancher issue the driver a clean bill of health in the first place? Not attempting to agrue with you just discussing and trying to learn

Thats where the whole knowing what you're doing thing comes in again, you need to pick out the ones that don't look good and refuse to put them on your truck or make the rancher sign something beforehand, you'd be surprised at what they'll try to sneak on your trailer.... A 50,000# load will lose about 2,000#+ between say florida and Oklahoma....

I know of no driving that would ever take a load of cattle and get paid based on the weight loss during transit.

Sounds exactly like the rest of the trucking industry lol. Cant count how many times ivr had to make a ehipper sign because they put cracked block on my trailer. Didnt know you could lose that much weight that quickly though 2000lbs in 1000 miles depending on pickup and drop locations in the states.

Lose too much weight and you get docked. I know a couple bull haulers that run ne to tx that are docked if the cattle lose too much weight.

I don't have to worry about it too much anymore, I mostly haul for the same ranches, I trust them and they trust me, after many years, all on a handshake.... Its the ones I've never hauled for or rarely haul for I gotta watch...

Well thats good that you dont have to worry about it much anymore. Good to hear things can still work out after a handshake years ago. But hell i haul for regulars and still have to watch the crap they stick on my trailer. Its to the point where im just ready to call their corporate office and ask just what their hiring qualifications are. Too many idiots in this world ive seen cattle that are smarter than some people...AND THAT AINT NO ####!!!

My bol I make out with every load clearly states in bold: NOT responsible for loads over 50,000 lbs. But I regularly load 60,000 and have no trouble. They pay the big bucks to get that extra 10k out yonder and I take care of em. As to the driving fast part, I run however fast I feel comfortable. If little traffic I may use thewhole road going thru some curves. Keeps er from leaning so bad.
