I wasn't trying to get a comparison between fuel hauling and cattle hauling there night and day difference I've talked to fuel haulers and have analyzed there opinions and advice so I figured I would try to talk to some bullshippers and see if they enjoy there jobs, pay, and how difficult of a industry it is to get into so I could make my assessment on which one I would like to pursue

I don't haul cattle but do pull s rack hauling pigs.

Where I'm at and with hogs there is a large shortage of drivers. Plenty of companies around here that will throw a driver with zero livestock experience in a truck and send them on their way. Not the company I pull for but others.

I say haul cattle if you enjoy the occasional golden shower or Cleveland steamer. Getting ran over, knocked down, feet stepped on. Smelling like a farm. Driving sometimes ridiculous long hrs with no regularity in schedule days or nights.
Yeah that sounds about right, or so I've heard.

Not to get to personal or pry in your affairs but what would your guesstimate be on the average weekly pay starting out doing that

I can't be a livestock hauler. I'd never make it!

First time my load pissed on me, there'd be FREE BBQ at the back of the lot! Plus, as I have freely admitted several times on this here forum thingy, I am bone lazy! I'll stick with my deck.

I agree with everything d o g said, in my experience it's easier to teach a cowboy to drive a truck than to teach a driver to load and haul cattle.

I know d o g said it but it's worth saying again quietly and efficiently when loading, and if you want it nothing can stop you. Hang out at the barn on sale night, meet people just stand at the pens and watch every move different trailers load different ways. The main thing is watch the hands that are quiet and cool loading. On the road bring her up slow and take her down the same way. Always keep torque on the drive line in a curve.

As far as pay I can't say I had the silver spoon when it comes to trucking my family was in it long before I was a twinkle in anybodies eye. I also never did it for the money I still keep a pott at home, still get that same feeling every time I hook to it. I do wanna say that 25 to 30 percent of the GROSS of the truck is pretty fair pay. Like I told another young lad it ain't an easy life, the weak or weary need not apply. You can't be afraid of an ol truck or breaking the rules. All that said the world is short on good Bullhaulers, a good one could name his price

And the best part for a bull haller is the dot tends not to hassle a lot on inspections for obvious reasons.
