That is not correct. The Shipper contracts with the broker to find trucks to haul their product. The broker then enters into a contract with a Carrier to haul the load. The broker is SOLELY responsible to pay the Carrier after the load has been delivered and the signed bol's have been received.

He doesn't know what he is talking aboutshanman Thanks this.

This is inaccurate, carriers can absolutely go after the shipper and consignee for non-payment, even if the load was tendered from a broker.D.Tibbitt Thanks this.
-
Never heard being able to go after the shipper. I looked it up and you are correct. Thank you for setting me straight.JimmyTwoTimes Thanks this.
-
You go after whoever was responsible for the original freight bill. Pre-Paid, shipper, collect receiver.Siinman and JimmyTwoTimes Thank this.
-
Never had to do that. Even though they are legally required to do so, I would imagine that a shipper would be reluctant to do so.Siinman and JimmyTwoTimes Thank this.

Most likely the broker - if they are a legit one - will pay before the customer ever finds out. Not a good look when carriers are hounding the customer for money. Better to pay the freight and keep it moving. Now if its a Glendale or other scammer. Good luck.JimmyTwoTimes and nikmirbre Thank this.

look who popped up on the cancellations list
Siinman Thanks this. -
just an FYI my brokerage has been in business since 2011. And this is the first time this has happened to me. I also only started offering quick pay this year. So I’m sure more will come out. Scammers will not scam if you don’t offer quick pay
