its been said before but ill say it this way, if you loose your liscense your company will fire you since your no good to them. if they start to give you ###### loads if you dont to the load, find another company. just reading ive found large companies with qualcomm are usally better about running legal since they have a gps record of where you went at what time that the gooberment can get if you end up killing some one. but in the indestry no one can run 100% legal and make money. if your 99% legal, logging things like your pretrip as 15 min when it takes you 30 or 15 min at a shipper then off duty when it takes you 45 min to save time on your 70 hours, you will be ok but what ever you do dont get creative to give your self more time driving or redo your log page (loose leaf only) to bump your 14 up, thats when you get busted.

Actually, It wouldn't be possible I think. If you dropped a load at 14:00 and had to pick up at 22:00, you wouldn't be able to split unless your pick up was in the same location as the consignee....Right? What about drive time?????

You need 8 consecutive hours in the sleeper berth to split. Am I wrong?

That's my idea of a perfect load scenario. Run out of hours getting to the shipper or consignee, do my ten while they're loading or unloading me. Next day I'm ready to roll with a fresh 11/14. But my impression of the OP's statement was that they didn't have the required time to get to the customer and were being told to drive illegal for an hour.

Weather will virtually never be an acceptable factor in claiming the 16 hour exemption, as it is considered a foreseeable event. Neither will normal rush-hour traffic. An accident that stops traffic out of the open road is about the only factor for which one can use the 16 hour exemption, to the best of my knowledge.

the 8 hours has to come first... so what's the point really? might as well take the ten. you can only split if you have available hours left on your 14 in the first place . if he's right at 14 hours, he can't split because he need a straight 10 hours off. as long as he gets to the shipper within his 11 and 14, he's legal and he can be on duty as long as he wants but he can't drive again until after a 10 break.

now, let me read what the hell I just said. can someone tell me if that makes sense. i think i got it right... but it's definitely confusing. Logs R Us where are you ??

if i make it to the driver position i was thinking about taking a picture of each quell-com <SP on a digital camera, download it to my laptop, every so often copy them to a cd. also making a daily diary - shipper, reciever, miles, times, etc on a spreadsheet on the laptop.

then if you got fired or maybe use this stuff so they couldnt fire you. it would even show loss of miles because you refused running illegal. just things i,ve picked up on these forums

Just remember with camera stuff like that if they found out you had it they could use it against you as well as for you.You are better off with a disposable camera because that picture cant be altered with by a computer.I handled this situation by logging it correctly.I didn't do any driving till I had a full 10 hour break.I am not going to jail for any company.:iroc:

his posting is a little confusing because he doesn't say where he is at 2100. And you are right, if he can't make it to the shipper by 2100, he has to take his ten before he goes over there. If he can make it there by 2100, he is legal and can be on duty at the shipper.

the weather is very unpredictable, especially in places like Colorado. If there is a whiteout during a blizzard and the highway is shut down, I do believe you can use that 2 hour rule. Snow is unpredictable as far as how much snow will fall in a given amount of time . If there is a major traffic jam during a snow storm and you are sitting there watching the snow fall for 2 hours, I think you are allowed to continue on and use that rule. But I will look at me reg. book and see if I can clear the answer up somewhat.
