For more, type "Bad Winter Driving" into YouTube.
(But, I guess you don't drive like that in winter, am I right? -
as someone mentioned, some old school warehouses only dock you using a CB , they get pissy when you say NO and have to get a call...
not to mention, avoiding traffic, accidents, getting a heads up about 5-0 on the prowl , and more importantly , the good drivers will hop on the radio to tell you if there is a issue with your truck or trailer that you may not be aware about.
I can count countless times , I've come up on trucks that's lights weren't working, or a flat and they are just cruising down the road , watching their smartphones, jamming with headphones on with No CB and can't say I didn't try to warn them and then bam they are in a weigh station complaining about them getting put out of service or the ticket they got, only if they had their radio on they could have avoided the headaches..
Also , on the long stretches , occasionally you can pickup a conversation that breaks up the trip and passes the time.
It's not a dying tool, it's a forgotten tool by many drivers, any trucker that gives a **** has a CB.. Just my opinionBlaskowitz, mike5511, Lite bug and 1 other person Thank this. -

Actually, I was not singling out truckers for having poor winter driving skills. Besides, you would think that truck driving schools would be more conscious of hazardous winter road conditions facing their drivers and even have training classes featuring similar videos to those on YouTube.
Nevertheless, there are some trucking companies who are more concerned with profits and having their shipments completed faster than safe road conditions allow. Drivers falling asleep at the wheel, etc.
Another problem south of the border is that winter tires (snow tires) are often not mandatory--as they are in Canada and other parts of the world.
See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snow_tire
The so-called "all season tires" are a poor substitute and will even get you a ticket and demerit points if found on your vehicle during a road check.

If all you can hear is within a 3 mile radius of your current location it will appear to you that no one is on the radio. But if you can hear within a 40 mile radius of your location you will hear all sorts of people talking at all times of the day and night from coast to coast. So yes it's a valuable tool that many of us use but if you keep your squelch knob turned all the way to the right you are not going to hear any of us talking.
Blaskowitz Thanks this. -
But who wants to listen to all that noise all the time?
