I bought a Stryker SR 5K magnet mount ( similar to wilson 5000) but sometimes when Im talking the meter will slam to the right and radio squeals. The connector that goes into the radio is the type where it unscrews so you can snake the coax through tight places for install and then screw it back on, anyone think that could be the problem or could it be possibly in the coil? Im currently using a Wilson 500 magnet, which is fine since Im just using Galaxy 99v2 barefoot, dont seem to notice much difference from 1000 I was using, only difference I can tell is coil may be smaller and whip is 6" shorter, but it works fine, but I would like to get Stryker fixed.

I tried, unsuccessfully, to buy some Wilson RG8X coax with an FME connector. I went through three packages before giving up. The connectors were all shorted to the barrel and had high SWR. You may want to check yours with an ohmeter.

I dont care for the screw on ends, when I ordered the Stryker I didnt realize it was like that. I bought the Wilson 500 at a cb shop ( overpaid) and he also has 1000 and 5000 but they both had the screw on connector and the 500 didnt so I went with that. Ive have bought a new end to put on the Stryker coax I just need to get it to a cb shop.

When the Stryker started acting up I went to the nearby Pilot and bought a Wilson Lil Wil for $30.00 and believe it or not it actually worked pretty good, at least for local communication, I didnt shoot skip or anything crazy with it, but at least I have a backup if needed.
