    I have a couple questions or you can consider them comments.

    Haven't had time to think laterly, running hard at work while trying to avoid dummy truckers who complain about their easy day but today with all the rain I took a day off to do finances for my company. I hate chaining in the rain.

    But as I was reading all of the posts, I had a thought about an antenna and looked around in my collection. I really was looking for a bottom loaded whip for an idea, but that doesn't matter.

    There are a couple things I will be trying in the near future on one of my newly acquired junk trucks, 2012 cascadia. It won't be in the fleet for long, I have a buyer for it but he won't move on it till March of next year, he's got it tied up with an option to buy.

    But anywho ...

    One thing that I haven't really did and should have is measure the length of the antenna from a mount to the top on some of these repair jobs I've done.

    The talk about extensions and such makes me wonder if there is a better way to add to the rf ground and remove any non-resonance conductors (which was one issue in the setups). The extensions maybe adding to the problem and when I modeled them, I ignored the extension when I should have added them in so they didn't show up.

    My question are;

    how long is it from the mount to the top of the antenna for your setup?

    And how far from the ground to your mount?

    Would a 7 foot antenna be acceptable to any of you?

    7 ft is currently what I am running. Problems with the angle of mount to get away from cab pilliar. Strength of mount and antenna to deal with wind and ice load are things that also need to be solved..

    81 inches top to bottom on this KW T600
    Top of whip is exactly @ 13'6" and 81" down to center of mounting stud. Freightliner Cascadia should be similar.

    The mounts I see have two flaws. I won't post details of what they are, I think I have in the past but one of them is the separation at the perch. The other is how the perch is made.

    Thank you.

    Speaking of an idea, I am going to throw together an antenna I've used on 6 meters and have great success with. If it works I may post details. It is not a simple design but it may fix the resonance issue on the cascadia that I keep finding.
