Cb antenna

    Tree took out the cb antenna last week.Was mounted on the driver's side mirror. So went and bought the same kind 3' fiberglass,remounted the antenna and have a bunch of static,moved it around on the mirror mount worked for a few then static again. Noticed when I retracted my tarp static got worse. Any help,thanks. It's a uniden cb which new antenna is for a Cobra and or uniden. Thanks again.

    It’s possible the new antenna is defective, or the PL 259 connector is broken or loose on the coax itself. Could be the antenna mount might be damaged and you might not be able to tell by looking at it. Depending on the type of antenna you have, there should be a plastic washer that fits on top of the mount and it could be broken too. Do you have an external SWR meter to check the antenna with?

    No washer on the antenna the other antenna didnt have washer either, don't have a SWR meter. I'll install a plastic washer and see what happens. Thanks.

    OK since I don’t know what type mount or antenna you’re using, I’d recommend taking it to a CB shop and have them check it out if possible.

    Nope stud is ok. Going to try a nylon washer.

    That washer should be between top of ant mount and then put top part of ant stud on by screwing bottom part in it...Why only a 3ft ant?

    Thank you. That was the size antanna on before so I just replaced it with the same thing.

    Depending on where its mounted,keep it as tall as possible..

    I should install a nylon washer also ???
    Ant. Is on the pass.side mirror.
