I know what you're saying. CB worked fine before the antenna got ripped off no static no nothing.

Good..Now take it apart and get a better antenna stud..Those are crap, the wilson hd alumium is a stronger choice and why the spring, better off with longer antenna..
Go on youtube and look at the vids on how to test electrical gnd of your antenna..
Electrical ground is TOTALLY different than ground plane....

I Know but WHY did it work before it got ripped off ? And it never had a nylon washer, actually it never had any kind of washers, and worked fine.Come to think of it I never did try the electric tarp while the cb was on,so maybe it had static the whole time anyway.

Cant comment on what i didnt see..Maybe you have a no ground on the mirror arm..No clue..Thats above my level of antenna theory

Ok thanks, it does work just has static when using the tarper... well more like an interference sound as the tarp winds back up not so much when it unwinds. Sounds differently like a ground. Also there is no ground coming off the mirror never had one.

Try runnin power direct to battery..Install braided straps on both door hinges..One side on door side and other on cab..
Use 1 or two straps on each hinge..
Use an ohm meter to chk the electrical ground of antenna.. -
Ok will try it. Thanks

Antenna got ripped off, and it’s the same stud? Most likely the insulator in the stud is compromised at this point. Those cheap 99 cent studs can be ruined if you hand tighten them.
