CB Base Antenna

I am new here but not new to 11 meter today i built a antenna using the bottom of a imax 2000 and a99 sections to make a 4 section antenna didnt adjust the rings bolted it to a 20 ft solid pipe then 50ft rg 8x put it up made my own mounts to my house then hooked it up for swr check on 11 meters its 1:5 all the way thorough the band its tall and seems to talk and receive better than my a99 i still have up hasnt been in high winds yet so i will update when i can i decided to do this project because i had two used antennas a IMAX and a a99 that a friend gave me so i gave it a shot to experiment and so far big improvements just waiting for a storm to test durability since its a used project just thought i would share my project with you guys ill update when a good storm comes through my a99 has been up 3 years with no issue i hope my secondary i put up today does just as well ive been in this hobby since 9 im 34 now i was taught well but im far from the best and never claim to know it all im just a hobbyist who enjoys experiment and keeping 11 meters alive most my buddies are way older and my generation just dont appreciate radio contact such a shame when its such a fun hobby im teaching my sons about it ppl say cb is dead no its not at all any comments or suggestion are always welcome to my post im one willing to listen thats how a man learns thanks im out

 

I kind of like the cheaper route and purchasing another 102 whip and making a dipole out of it. it should withstand hurricane-force winds without breaking depending on the strength of the mount itself

 

The IMAX-2000 is an excellent antenna! My friend solved the problem of high winds, by simply putting plastic guy wires in the middle of the antenna to keep it from bending over too far!!
