CB echo.. is it really nesessary?

It can actually get you heard better in far off distances as opposed to not having it, provided you have it set properly. Most people however don't have it set properly. The vid you posted shows someone who has way overdone it.

 

Define "far"......Most CB's are 4 Watts correct?
You can speak as far as "Line of sight"...unless you have had some *ahem* upgrades.....

 

Very common misconception. It takes more power to be heard at a greater distance. Eco provides absolutly no power to the transmission of your radio.

 

It is immature. if not utterly childish, serves NO purpose, makes one hard to understand, and earns CB radio a deserved name: the children's band. If "echo" was so "cool" all radio services would be using it. They don't!
