The newer FT-857 and the other rigs like it are safe.

" ROGER BEEPS " were common on FM back in the early days but are almost NEVER found on HAM RADIOS THEY ARE NOT ILLEGAL.

As for modding a radio to cover both CB and HAM radio that too is NOT ILLEGAL how ever IF your the unlucky one who the FCC comes to see and your radio is on the FCC list of " EXPORTS " you will get at least a warning a UNMODDED radio that does not cover CB is ok to use with a license on 10 meters.

 

i have question i want a decent radio and antena set up for work. what brand and antenna set up do yall recommend

later in life ill get on the ham ban but the right way i just want a cb and antenna set up for now...

 

I would call sparky cb center about a radio for cb and most base antennas are fine even the A-99 one of the cheap ones.....

I like the grant but it is no longer sold

 

Get you a Cobra 25 LTD or a Uniden PC 68 for the radio.

As for an antenna, a Wilson 1000 magnet mount is great for the money.
