Mine was given to me by two different people. Slider because when I first was leaning how to drive I had a bad habit of taking my right turns R E A L L Y wide, and one day after a week of rain, on the gravel track we used to practice turning and shifting, I took a wide right turn and slide right off the track when the gravel shoulder collapsed. Leadfoot, from my husband (and team driver for 5 years), for the 5 speeding tickets I was honored with over a 4 year period.
Mostly it seems you get the handle thats sticks from others, because of something you did/do. I started out with Tinkerbell, but lost that after the track incident.

At least it used to be that way (back in the day).
A driver I know tried to create his "handle" and it just didn't work out like he planned. He wanted to be "STONE CRUSHER". He even had a nice decal made to apply to his bug deflector. Another driver, who had a wicked sense of humor, disagreed with his choice and began referring to him as "PEBBLE MASHER". That stuck like glue.
It usually takes me two tries to get backed in nice and straight. This was noted by one of my pardners, and "TWO TIMER" was hung on me. I thought it sounded cool, and went with it. It shortens up for the forums to "2xR" (2 time R for the shorthand challenged). -
well, panhandlepat of course
