    Hello All,

I am a newly minted truck driver. So far I am loving it and can't believe I didn't do this sooner.

    Down to the issue.

I have been put in my second truck which didn't have a CB mount on the dash or hookups. So today where I stopped and talked to Freightliner. My power unit is a 2013 Cascadia Evolution - (Freightliner). I was informed I didn't need that because there is a mount above my head in the drivers seats if I remove the sunglass cup. AWESOME! I would rather have it there. So I found the distribution block behind the Gauges and I need to run the CB line up there. I think I can handle that. My thing is what do I do to power the radio? Do I need to run new lines? Is there some already run that I need to transplant? What's the 411 here guys? I look to your infinite knowledge and wisdom here.

    Thanks

    Code:
There should be power lines up there you can use.
    :)

If you want it to work half way decent, run your own coax and use a good antenna. I would think somewhere in the overhead there should be some power lines.

There should be 12 volts DC available in the mounting cubby. Your CB should have a pigtail power cable on it. Depending on connections, it should be easy to power up the radio. If you have trouble, give a shout and we can help.

Everyone thanks for your responses, Green you are getting more to the heart with more informative subject matter. Thanks. I am going to post a couple of what I found and see if you think this is what I should be looking for. I tried to just test it with my little cobra mini (its getting replaced tonight) and it pissed of my truck.

Beautiful. A couple of crimp on pin connectors on your radio pig tail should fit those female fittings on that plug. Looks like a + and - wire on the end. Any auto parts store or radio shack will have the fittings.

There should be two wires together with a "cb power" label somewhere. Probably hiding in the back inks the previous driver ripped them out our something.

If you do make a trip to radio shack it would be good to ask if they have any electrical noise filters to pit inline. The stock power lines are dirty and you'll pickup allot of noise.

Well folks its in! I had to tie into the lighting in the upper to power it but its doing fine for that. The only thing now SWR calibration is way above 1.5...which I have know idea what that means. So again I call upon you guys to help me out here and tell me what I need to do to fix that. Here is a pic...

Go to shop, or find a driver, or somebody, that with a little experience to help you get this lined out.
