Just bought a classic 29 ltd cobra. Won't come on. Have a 2 prong connector with a hole for each wire and have switched them. Still not working. 2011 international

Check and make sure there is a 2 amp fuse inside the white plastic capsule.
-
Ok. It lit up orange when I was messing with it, does that mean I blew it???
-
If it "comes on" don't push the button on the microphone until you have an antenna hooked to it. You will ruin it. (blow the finals) out put transistors.
-
Haven't hooked up MIC yet. Haven't made it to the rest. Saw adapter that runs on 12v adapter cig lighter outlet. Has anyone tried this? Does it work?
-
Yes it does. I recommend it if you change trucks a lot. As a company driver I did. Called it "the cigarette plug syndrome". Even had an antenna that had wing nuts to keep it on the mirror frame. 30 years ago. Remember it well. You guys have it easy.
Don't ask, you will love it. or hate it. I loved it.
crappiejunkie Thanks this. -
Only 9.99. Think I'll give it a whirl. So speaker, power, antenna cords then mix and tune it right??? Thanks for help.
-
Once you get power to the radio, and it's working, you want to check the SWR by putting an SWR meter between the radio and the antenna, then follow the directions that came with the SWR meter to ensure your antenna is tuned.
Only after you have an antenna hooked up and tuned to the radio, will you be ok to start talking.
