Tks ridge for confirming the resonance is as per each freq..

Thanks for the suggestions Craig. As for the bend in the coax wire on the mount, thats the way this particular K40 clamp mount is set up, with that sharp bend that runs underneath the mount.

Interesting setup, something I might have to look into doing if I can't make this style of mount work.

Thank you for the link night stalker, I'll be sure to read up on my grounding 101.

Just got back from testing SWR - Channel 1 was 1.4 and Channel 40 was a hair under 2. Gonna try some ground straps and then re-test. May modify the antenna if necessary but haven't totally shut down the idea of moving mounts yet again.......

With all due respect, dont care how its designed..Its a bit to sharp...Straighten it out and try again..Coax might be fubared..

You can get X=0 on all channels, but SWR reading will probably be a bit higher.

Jj...We both know that you know more than me in this subject BUT till i find something that agrees with you,im gonna disagree with that statement...

Ill agree "IF" you retune for each freq change but not say across all 40 as an example...

an antenna can have resonance at one given frequency, not a range of them.

Swr is not a reflection of a resonant antenna.

I agree with what Ridgeline is saying. Craig, if you have some time on your hands, someday you could do an experiment for us. You probably have the most matched antenna system of anyone. You also have a very nice antenna analyzer that you could actually check the reactance on every channel of the CB band. Then you could let us know what you find out. I think it would be interesting to see your results since we are only talking 20 kHz frequency spacing.
