I have purchased three of the wilson 5 ft FGT series which are the fiberglass and out of the 3, 2 of them went bad. One was bad right out of the package and the other one only lasted a month or so.
I repaired them both. The solder joint were the main wire attaches to the base is the fault as it is a very weak joint do to the way they constructed it.
Peal the heatshrink off the bottom section of the antenna to get to the joint. Clean the surface area and bend the wire section down along the side of the base. Get a good quality solder and flux paste. Apply flux past to the base and the wire and apply enough heat to get the paste to bubble slightly then apply solder to the heated joint. It will be much stronger then stock. Wrap the open area with a quality electrical tape or try and find some heat shrink to fit over the section and apply heat to it for a sealed repair.
