Hi all,
Just wanted to add to my post about Kelly's CB shop. He worked on a cobra 25 NW ST I got for free. It was in rough shape-- dirty pots, low modulation. Drivers would literally tell me to throw it out the window b/c it squealed while having tiny audio. He worked on it in October 2015. Upon getting it worked on, every station I talk to can't believe I'm on a cobra 25. I talk to people running big radios (Galaxy, Stryker, etc.) and they key up to tell me how impressed they are by my audio. They think I also have big equipment. But it's just a barefoot cobra 25 putting out a little over stock power. Not sure how his work was years ago, but the $45 it cost to turn the dud into a heavy hitter was worth sending it to him from Chicago. Just my 2 cents!
Best,
