I know this thread is kind of old but I can't help myself here, and I can't believe it wasn't mentioned but.... *whispers* I ain't got no panties on!
Don't forget the genius that has an echo turned up so high as to make him sound incomprehensible. ....As if that's somehow cool.
Deadbolt are great! Haven't learned anything new about CB's, but I have learned of a new band to listen to.
If you're writing a screenplay, watch "The Wages of Fear", the original 1953 version, not any of the crappy remakes. If your 'trucker' character is the stock 'Bubba' redneck stereotype, I don't want to watch your movie. It's already been made 1000 times.
To answer the OP. No, the CB radio is soooo 1980's. If it is a modern story taking place in 2017 leave the CB out of the dialogue. Do put in him driving, texting and watching pornography on his laptop at the same time if you want to destroy whatever positive images are left of truck drivers.
Sorry guy's,im old school here.I believe a cb is just as important as a tire guage in a truck.Holy cow,has the air waves have changed in 30 yrs,but it still has a on/off switch.Goes to show how people have lost respect. That tool(cb radio) can n will save your life or someone elses. It will help you when your stuck on that pass at 2:00am(w/no cell signal),when you missed that exit going thru a unfamiliar area.Talking to your buddy you catch going the other way, smokey reports, list goes on.I never knew of 1 trucker that got a ticket for having a mic in his hand.Weve lost payphones, lets not lose cb's. To the op- i guess i can use my tablet one night, put it on the seat n have it just record, but as someone mentioned, theres probably a load of cb related conversations on you tube. Catch ya on the flip flop-we gone.
I can't tell you how many times I was driving in the middle of the night and being able to talk with others going my way was a great way to stay alert.
