yes, first i had it in the holder, and even with the truck NOT running, my wife said i sounded like i was in a tunnel
so i held it, as if i was speaking on the cb, and though she said it sounded much better, there was an annoying "delay sound"
this was with the truck off
with it running, she could barely hear me, and when i tried other calls, all i got was "are you in a tunnel"? questions, or "pick up the phone" as if i was on a speakerphone that was hard to hear -
I got the tunnel comment too, But I found that turning the dynamic to 50% cleared that up. Not sure what the relation is. When its off, so are you, when its at max, you "tunnel". I have never been able to communicate decent with the mic set down. I always have to talk into the mic. It will sound different on any call, but the trade off is great I think.

SOUNDS like it might just be a solid ray-did-di-o. i have been getting ready to buy another radio for a couple of months now. my 29 wx/nw/st just stopped tx/ and rx/, took mike off and tried new one,no dice.wish i could find my old cobra 29 plus.now that radio would walk the dog and kick the cat. i'm using a sneaky snake 25 in my new hauler so it gets the job done i suppose. happy trails all.
