My thoughts exactly. About the only time I say anything if there is a bear hiding in his reduced speed zone spot that I go by nightly. I believe that's still a common courtesy. Other than that, I normally turn the volume all the way down unless the weather is bad or something. Still hate going out without one in the truck though.

I can't believe guys run without a radio or with it turned off.... especially you drivers who don't like to stop very often and inspect your vehicle and load.
Just last night I followed a SWIFT driver into Fernie, BC. His tail lights were shorting out. I couldn't get him on the CB.
He's lucky the Sparwood scale was closed. That guy loves to write tickets for just that sort of thing.
As I pass by the driver though Fernie, he looks over at me and smiles... CB mic hanging from the holder.
Hope the Yak scale was closed last night. That guy just loves to pull inspections. -
I usually keep mine on everyday. Turn the squelch up to tune out any unwanted "static."
Great resource to have, though. -
I won't leave home without it.set the squelch to kill the static, vol low but hearable. I would rather have another driver tell me, you have a lamp out, or your staging something as a bear tell you.

I always have mine turned on. Got to find out where the 5-0 is hiding at.

Good to have one, kinda like a fire extinguisher or triangles. Generally I ran with mine turned off or at least all the way down (If you see the needle flopping and no traffic coming the other way....)

I have a lowly stock Cobra 29LTD classic that I bought at a local pawn shop for $50. Included a gear keeper mic retractor. That there is $25 alone at the truckstops. Been told it sounds good.

Well, the only driving I do anymore is that side gig up to Kremmling.. even though I don't live in Co. Springs anymore, I told the guy I'd finish out the season (which should be winding down this month.. there might possibly be a run in May). I bring my radio (3300 HP) along, but don't really get much traffic on it... mostly if I see trucks from my company at my regular job (Navajo), I'll call to wave a hand. Tuesdays, I saw one of my former coworkers with Pioneer Sand as I got back to Co. Springs, so I was able to talk to him. I've always been a bit zealous about the necessity of the CB, but I'm finding it increasingly difficult to do so, given the amount of #######ery which occurs on Ch. 19. Kinda hard to preach about, "yes, you must have it!" when the first thing someone's going to hear when they turn it on is how Driver A is going to kick Driver B's ### into next week, Driver C has no panties on, and Howard Homebaser from five states away is showing his ### on 19 worldwide.
