Is the radio set on Cal? And is the Mic gain turned fully to the right? If not turn Mic gain up. Or try another Mic. And the switch to another position.
-
Big M I'm gonna check that. It could be something as stupid as that. I guess a new mic is cheaper that replacing the radio too....

Usually it is something simple that's the problem.
Just don't throw it out.
I'll buy it from you first. Or.
If no one wants to fix your Dad's cb. We can make arrangements to send it to me. I'll repair the radio. I have parts suppliers and work on these older radios on a daily basis.
Let me know if you have any problem(s) having this cb repaired.
Best of luck,
Jimbo -

Hi,
Yesterday, my wife and I were walking down an isle of our local grocery store. We saw an older man walking towards us from the other end.
As we approached one another. This approaching man paused in the most narrow portion of the isle and stood there looking around, really doing nothing. Just staring at the lights, floor, etc... Thus causing us to have to squeeze by.
It's like that here within these forums.
You try to converse about a subject. And we do have conversations.
But there is always that person standing there making it difficult for the person asking the question to immediately comprehend any of the information pertaining to their question.
All we can ask for is helpful, honest and comprehensible responses to the questions we post.
Good Luck,
Jimbo -
The problem is no standard for repair on any CB/HAM radio a good shop would repair a radio back to factory spec unless there was a very good reason for any mod ... such as the parts are no longer made.
Outside of CB it is illegal to modify a radio for a customer.
As a rule wack-packs supertunes ect are a way to empty your pocket. -
Just being helpful to the thread posted, is all we can ask for.
When I find and read a thread of interest to me. Many times I don't interrupt the thread. I'll follow the progress of the replies and hopefully learn from what I read.
I enjoy repairing cb radios. I have tried some modifications. Without the experience and proper equipment, I have found that I do not have the ability to realign the cb radios after any of the modifications. So therefore I only restore cb radios to original condition. This is what I offer and what I enjoy doing the most.
