Just wondering what the concern about the 13'6" as far as antenna goes? As far as the tune numbers go at highway speeds, there's really not much you can do about that. No one has ever really worried about it that I'm aware of. Until now.

I remember that post. It sounded fishy to me in a way. An omni directional antenna is still omni directional. I doubt 3 degrees would stop the conflict. Sounds like they need a PL tone or one of them use a different frequency. To me if tilting a mobile antenna changes the swr or impeadance, then you are dealing with an RF ground problem.

It was 2 degrees. See attached PDF. Looks like they did other things also that I didn't remember. I often wondered about the wisdom of approving operation on the same frequency of two stations so close together

13'6 is the max height you can have without getting an over height permit.
We used to carry blanket over weight, over width permits but they still had a limit of 13'6 high max. I think any higher and you have to have another permit with some spotters and escorts like moving a house for instance.

Okay, I didn't think they would care about a CB antenna being over 13'6". Seems like most overhead stop lights are 14ft or more. Many many years ago, a fella I worked for installed a 108 inch fibre glass CB antenna to the drivers mirror on the truck I drove. It looked kind of strange, but it sure worked great. Never got stopped or questioned about it as far as dot goes. Of course a lot has changed over the years when it comes to regulations. Thanks.

    Whats a unidentified 980???
The noise "Could"be them and not your 980...
Power lines,led/hid lights or bad transformers, all kinds of electronics...
If it does the same when all trucks pass, something is up but if it does it when some pass its usually dirty power from same as above..

Lol... Since it was the late 70's, the truck had the old style mirrors like the old Pete 379's. The boss mounted the antenna to the lower mirror mount and anchored the antenna to the top mirror support. I guess that did help lower the height of the antenna by mounting it that way. I'm pretty sure the tip of the antenna was above 13'6". The truck was Red with dark blue stripes, and the antenna was bright white. Granted it looked a little goofy, but it sure worked good. It seems like back in those days, anything goes, at least when it came to cb's.
