You take pride in sending a radio out at +100% modulation and causing splatter and harmonics???? If that is the case your shop would be on my personal blacklist.

Mad dog didn't say that at all.. read what you highlighted, he says, "b4 u all chim in and say you want your radio at 100% modulation, LET ME SAY NO YOU DON'T"......that is him saying, no you don't, isn't it?

You are missing the point... What I was implying was "no you don't" as most do not want a radio set this way.
Now for you few that are into the specs and all the talk or the ham folks that love to slam CB and say every radio but there $1000.00 HF radio is junk I say that's just not true and my radios do not splatter all over the band.
You have a control on the front that says Mic gain and where you set it makes all the difference in the world. The guy running the radio can have it nice and clean or loud and distorted but in the end they have control of how the radio sounds.
I posted this just because of this kind of talk about CB shops. Get your facts straight and understand the market you are talking about before you trash shops.
There are a lot of good shops mixed with bad ones and I know there are some that have had bad experiences with shops, I fix stuff almost daily from people that have had radios messed up at other shops and I'm sure they didn't do it on purpose because that just would not make good business sense. I don't think anyone would mess up a radio unless it was a mistake.. Why would you.
The entire point of this was to bring out that your radio is a system and it is not just the radio. The more work you do on your antenna system the better off you will be. The fact is money spent on a good working antenna system makes or breaks any radio and will directly affect how the radio talks and hears. This is one of the most difficult things to get across to drivers.
SWR is not the last word in a antenna system.. I have seen a 1.5 SWR antenna system just flat not work on a truck move it or change out the antenna and with the same SWR the radio comes to life and works like it should. Impedance needs to be right as well and what about using a drip grid meter as well.
More time should be spent talking about how to set up your antenna and grounds than bashing shops and I think more people would be happier with there radios.

I think I might have misinterprated your post, to me, it sounded as if you were saying you don't want your radio's modulation set where it should be.

I am not a fan of "swing kits", NPC/PPE mods etc... I understand that what seems like the majority of CB operators do want them.I also understand that if a business is to survive it needs to give it's customer base what it wants.I use to do work for the locals in my area but would not clip limiters, install "swing kits" or do NPC/PPE mods.I have run across few CB/export radios that could not reach 100% modulation.Since this was more of hobby it wasn't a big deal to lose any business and for the most part I'm thankful for getting out.

I can't say that I disagree. 2 million CB shops out there, but maybe only five of those cats even know what they're doing. BTW, sometimes you can tell who's got his limiters cut: he's the guy who's really LOUD but sounds like someone put a sock around his mic and rammed it down his throat. Distortion's great on guitar amps; not so good for clear voice comms.
