    Still waiting for someone to chime in or maybe would be better going on you tube when you hear guys taking about there swing , dead key , and drive I’m pressuring running an Amp

    Wow ... again ...

    Let's start with the dead key - carrier power without modulation.

    Swing is the carrier power with modulation.

    Having an amp doesn't mean a thing, the radio does this. The radio drives the amp as the amplifies the input signal.

    That's a simplified version.

    Dead key-the amount of power put out When you click the mic button but don’t talk into it.

    swing-The amount of power put out when you click the mic button and speak into it.

    barefoot – running the radio without an external amplifier.

    drive- example: ‘My cobra 29 is driving a two pill.’ This means your radio, a cobra 29, is supplying the signal to an amplifier with two transistors.
