Yes, I assumed that a 1/4 wave antenna for the 460mhz gmrs radio could be as short as 6 inches. At least according to my math. I know the commercial 5.5 gain antennas are around 34 inches long. I have a silver based nmo 2 meter antenna (which as you know is around 19 1/4 inches), that I had bought from a friend years ago who works at a Motorola shop. I really like the shorter low profile antennas. Plus they are very durable.

i like to run the 1/4 wave nmo antennas, Dont like advertising radio eq while driving, Although I have a HF antenna I use on occasion (tarheel) which is obnoxious
-
Ha, ya and the tarheels aren't cheap either. I feel the same way about the 1/4 wave nmo antenna. Plus they work just fine as far as using repeaters go. -
I really think HF is way more enjoyable on the workbench in the garage, Put in a shelf over the top of the bench for the HF rig, Service monitor, the stuff the YL wont let in the living room.handlebar Thanks this.

I have had a bit of fun with a little handheld Baofeng. At Sysco Concord NC they sometimes put you out on the "lot" and then later call you with a door number. The warehouse calls out to the guard with their FRS radios and tells him the door number, then he dials the driver up on the phone and gives the door number. When the guard called me yesterday I already had heard my door number so I said "Door 28, right?". He was like "how did you know that?" Lmao

You are going to see more warehouses using FRS.. Even DeWalt has entered into the game https://www.homedepot.com/p/DEWALT-...ith-Headsets-2-Pack-CBA1DXFRS800SV1/312703559

If you're using the Wouxun KG-1000G to communicate with FRS users, set the KG-1000G to Narrow Band.

Me and my grown son are thinking about both of us getting 1000-G's, not for trucks (he's not a driver) but just to fiddle around on the N GA repeaters. They sound pretty active. My boy lives a few miles away
